Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), Armed Forces Philippines (AFP)

Mission: Joint Special Operations Command, Armed Forces of the Philippines (JSOC, AFP) , serves as the national joint SOF command of the Philippines that ensures the strategic and operational utilization of the Philippine SOF. It is primarily responsible for planning and executing joint special operations in support of the AFP’s mission.

Capabilities:
1- Command and control SOF and enablers in the execution of special operations mission;
2- Conduct joint special operations in support to the territorial defense operations;
3- conduct asymmetric operations;
4- conduct HADR and NEO;

SOCOMD Australia is focussed on how it can use its existing systems better. Where industry is able to provide low cost opportunities such as porting waveforms onto existing radios, integration munitions into existing weapons systems etc…., this will be be of interest to SOCOMD Australia.

Defence Technology Institute, Thailand

Mission: The Defense Technology Institute (DTI) is a public organization under the supervision of the Minister of Defense and work in allignment with Royal Thai Armed Forces’s capability development. .DTI operates in activities related to the defence industry that covers research, development, testing and evaluation, standard certification to the transition process to industry
and commercialization. In accordance with Defense Technology Act 2019, in which Section 22 states the institute’s objectives:

(1) Study, research, and develop national defense innovation and technology and take other related or ongoing actions.To lead to national defense industry. (2) Promote and support national defense industry activities of the Ministry of Defense, other government agencies and the private sector
(3) promote and support training research Dissemination of academic knowledge and development of personnel in defense technology and defense industry
(4) Coordinate cooperation in defense technology and defense industry with government agencies educational institutions and the private sector, both domestically and abroad.
(5) It is a knowledge center for defense technology and defense industry to the Ministry of Defense and government agencies. To be used in formulating policies and plans for the development of national defense science and technology. Therefore it can be said that the DTI is the primary defense industry agency of Thailand and serves to connect all elements to form a complete and expanding ecosystem.

Meeting Attendees: Col. Ampun Janpengpen is the Deputy Director of DTI. Vissanu Mungkung is Defence and Security Industry Development Officer.

Capability Need Areas include:

  • ADVANCED ANALYTICS (AI/ML) : military decision making, simulation and intelligence.
  • C5 (COMMAND, CONTROL, COMMUNICATIONS, COMPUTERS, CYBER): secured military network and infrastructure.
  • AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS (UAVs/USVs/UGRs/USVs): Low cost, high rate production and expendable autonomous system.
  • ISTAR (INTELLIGENCE, SURVEILLANCE, TARGET ACQUISITION, RECONNAISSANCE): Battlefield awareness and real time military remote sensing.

CNECT Timeline

Industry-to-government meetings at GSOF events are the primary feature of CNECT. The process is as follows:

 6 months out

February 2025: GSOF conducts outreach to SOF-focused U.S. and Partner Nation government organizations to gauge interest in participation in CNECT, especially SOF Acquisition officials.

3 – 6 months out

February – May 2025: Interested representatives complete the Government Intake form, which includes questions about availability and desired capabilities.

4 months out

April 2025: Interested Government Organizations are posted to the event website with their primary capability needs listed, with a link to apply for a meeting opportunity. 
● The application includes a required 250-word description of the company or capability to be
discussed.

3 weeks out

July 28, 2025: Industry applications are shared with Government Organizations for down selection.

2 weeks out

August 4, 2025): Government completes and shares down selected list with GSOF
● GSOF develops final schedules, deconflicting government and industry schedules.

7-10 days out

August 8, 2025): Companies are notified of their selection / non-selection and meeting time/location, if applicable
● Meetings are scheduled in Event Mobile App
● Meeting hosts receive a print-out of their schedule
